Position Details
37.5 hours per week / permanent / working onsite on a seven-day rolling rota, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
About the Organisation
Our mission is to help children and young people have a fair chance to be who they want to be. We do this by providing a safe home, increasing life skills and self-confidence, and improving emotional wellbeing and mental health.
Worthing Foyer is a 29-bed supported accommodation for young people aged 16-25, staffed 24/7. We have a dedicated team supporting young people with housing, budgeting, living skills, employment, and relationship building, with strong links to the local community.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Supported Housing Support Worker to join our Worthing Foyer team. Key responsibilities include:
Housing
* Coach young people to manage their occupancy agreements and adhere to house rules, preparing them for independent living.
* Encourage timely rent payments and promote a credit culture.
* Maintain knowledge of housing and welfare benefits, and stay updated on relevant legal changes.
* Handle non-compliance issues collaboratively and effectively.
Coaching and Engagement
* Support young people in articulating aspirations and acquiring life skills.
* Encourage responsibility for personal development and community engagement.
* Observe safeguarding procedures and maintain professional boundaries.
* Keep detailed client records to monitor progress and outcomes.
General Responsibilities
* Work as part of a team on a rota, ensuring support is available during all shifts, including lone working periods.
* Contribute to a positive work environment, handle difficult situations calmly, and participate in professional development.
Lone working may be required, with training and induction provided.
Candidate Profile

Experience & Knowledge
* Experience with housing, support work, or working with young people at risk.
* Experience managing a caseload with complex needs.
* Knowledge of relevant resources and safeguarding procedures.
Skills & Abilities
* Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Relationship-building and advocacy skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* De-escalation and behavior management skills.
