Summary
* The Performance & Data Analyst is a crucial role within a local authority, tasked with delivering accurate, timely, and meaningful data, analysis, and insights to the Council’s Management Board. This position supports evidence-based decision-making, continuous improvement, and operational efficiency, primarily focusing on Children’s Services with an emphasis on Education. Familiarity with School Census returns, CME/EHE returns, Key Stage Collections, and Education systems such as Education MRI, VYED, and Nexus is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
* Analyse performance data to identify trends, needs, and areas for improvement.
* Develop and monitor performance targets to support service improvement.
* Produce clear, concise reports tailored for senior managers, Councillors, and operational teams.
* Automate and streamline reporting processes wherever possible.
* Support directorates in developing outcome-focused performance measures.
* Challenge and validate data outturns to ensure accuracy and identify risk areas.
* Provide proposals for remedial action based on analytical findings.
* Deliver statutory data submissions (Equalities, national returns, regulatory reporting).
Requirements
Essential Experience Required
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and produce actionable insights.
* Advanced proficiency in:
o SQL
o SSRS (report writing)
o Power BI / Tableau
o Excel & Power Query
o Statistical software tools
o GIS (desirable)
* Experience managing and integrating data from multiple sources.
Essential Qualifications Required
* Degree or equivalent professional experience.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development in data analytics, performance management, or related fields.

* Working hours: 36 hours per week
* Location: Civic Offices, 2 Watling Street, Bexleyheath, Kent, DA6 7AT, United Kingdom
* Work pattern: 4 days remote, 1 day in the office
* Payment schedule: Bi-weekly
