NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. The Role

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a or a NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).

The purpose of this role is to support the Cardiac Physiology diagnostic service.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:


* This post is part time at 22.5 hours per week
* The base will be Inverclyde Royal Hospital with an expectation that cover may need to be provided at Vale of Leven hospital during staff absences
* Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours

Key Responsibilities

12 Lead electrocardiograph

* The recording of ECGs on both inpatients and outpatients and during emergency and non-emergency situations making Medical staff aware of acutely abnormal ECGs and inform staff of unexpected findings.
* Will work unsupervised, troubleshooting when there is ECG complications to accurately record resting ECGs on adult and paediatric patients. Understand and rectify recording issues using problem solving skills including better skin preparation, recognising broken/faulty leads and when to call on Medical Physics if required.
* Will be expected to have a high level of ECG interpretation skills and identify abnormalities that require to be highlighted to senior Physiologist / Consultant /Nursing staff

24 hour/Multi day Ambulatory monitoring

* The application of ambulatory monitor on both inpatient and outpatients. Good communication with the patient is essential to obtain more knowledge of their symptoms in order to decide on the appropriate type of monitor to be fitted. The need to stress to patients on the importance of filling in symptom/activity diary to assist with diagnosis. Careful preparation of the patient’s skin and skilful application of the electrodes is required in order to minimise interference on the stored data to obtain high quality recordings

24 hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure monitoring

* The application of this monitor requires the post holder to make a decision on the correct size of cuff which must correspond with the size of the patients arm to obtain accurate values. Communicate the importance of completion of diary and ensure patient understands the operation of equipment and what to expect to reduce problems resulting in error readings

Downloading and initial analysis of Ambulatory monitors

* The patient data stored on monitors must be downloaded to Sentinel System ensuring the data corresponds with the correct patient. Pre-analysis of results is performed. Arrhythmias including fast heart rates, slow heart rates, pauses and any gross abnormality are immediately highlighted to either Senior member of staff or directly to Cardiologist to be actioned. Any concerns regarding blood pressure results are also highlighted

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

* Experience in 12 lead ECG recording and interpretation of results
* Experience fitting Heart Monitors
* Experience of downloading monitors onto Spacelabs System
* It is expected that applicants will be friendly, empathetic and enthusiastic and have relevant experience in a patient-facing environment

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
