I'm currently working on behalf of a leading UK main contractor delivering a long-term programme of works for a major energy provider across Scotland. Due to continued growth on the framework, they are now looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to support a portfolio of power and energy upgrade works across the region.
The Role
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be commercially responsible for a range of works including:
Major substation upgrades
Power and wider infrastructure improvements
Associated enabling and supporting works across the SSE network
The role offers genuine variety, long-term security, and the opportunity to work on technically complex, regulated infrastructure within a well-established delivery team.
Key Responsibilities
Full commercial management of projects from early works through to final account
Administration and management of NEC contracts (primarily NEC3/NEC4)
Cost forecasting, change control, CVRs, and reporting
Managing subcontractor procurement and commercial performance
Working closely with project managers, planners, and the wider commercial team
Requirements
Proven experience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor (or an experienced QS ready to step up) within the infrastructure or utilities sectors
NEC contract experience is essential
HV / power experience is highly advantageous but not essential
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage multiple workstreams
Able to attend the Motherwell office at least 3 days per week
What's on Offer
My client can offer an excellent work life balance with hybrid working, excellent career prospects and exposure to a wide range of exciting projects. They can also offer a competitive salary & package that includes:
Salary between £60,000 - £73,000 (dependent on experience)
£4,200 car allowance
Pension and private healthcare
25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
Long-term work on a stable, well-funded framework with SSE
Clear progression within a contractor known for developing and retaining talent
If you're a Quantity Surveyor with strong NEC experience looking to move into-or further establish yourself in-the power and energy sector, this is a role well worth exploring.
