We are seeking an ambitious Senior Project Manager (Casual) to join the Sustainable Places & Regeneration Service within the Place Shaping Department. This is a career‑graded post, offering the opportunity to progress on demonstration of key competencies. This post is flexible and offers up to approximately 14 hours per week on a casual basis.
The Sustainable Places & Regeneration team has secured over £64m of investment in the last five years, delivering a wide variety of projects. Within Bath, the current portfolio includes Milsom Quarter regeneration, Twerton & Whiteway Pride in Place, Bath Central Riverside, Bathscape Landscape Partnership, Bath River Line, Landscape City Framework, and the Bath Local Centre Improvement Project. The team also leads ambitious regeneration initiatives in the market towns Keynsham, Midsomer Norton, Radstock and rural areas.
Our projects span both the built and natural environment, giving you the chance to work across Bath and North East Somerset on a unique range sites and with different communities including within the setting of a World Heritage City.
Projects will be at different stages of delivery and will vary in size and scale. You will work closely with colleagues across the Sustainable Places & Regeneration team, other service areas within the Council, and partner organisations.
You will be able to demonstrate how you can bring your knowledge and experience in project management to support a range of projects in development and capital projects in delivery. We are particularly looking for experience in public sector financial management including managing project finance, overseeing and generating grant is also critical to this role.
In this post you will act in a client role to support on a wide range of projects working as part of project delivery teams. Work may also include the development of new grant funded projects, the preparation of major funding bids, capital delivery and budget management.

The initial focus of the role will be on supporting the delivery of the Bath River Line Phase 1, a strategic green infrastructure project which will create a 10km linear park that connects Bath’s riverside spaces, improves biodiversity and enhances active travel routes across the city.

Bath & North East Somerset lies between the Cotswold & Mendip Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The city of Bath is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, built around Britain’s only thermal springs.
This role offers the opportunity for flexible working, with a combination of home and office working. Office time will mainly be based in the Guildhall in Bath, which is easily accessible by public transport. Hot‑desking workspaces are also available at Keynsham Civic Centre/Studio 12 in Bath and the Hollies in Midsomer Norton
