Are you looking for a role where you can support the delivery of the Scottish Government's programme of subordinate legislation?

An opportunity has arisen to join the Scottish Statutory Instrument (SSI) Unit as an SSI Clerk within the Scottish Government Legal Directorate (SGLD) Business Division. The SGLD Business Division is responsible for corporate governance, directorate strategy, and the delivery of a range of specialist support services to both the wider SGLD and the Government Legal Service for Scotland (GLSS).

As an SSI Clerk, you will join a small team of four responsible for delivering the procedural aspects of the Scottish Government's programme of subordinate legislation. These procedural aspects include the final formatting of SSIs, arranging for their signing, registering them, and laying them before the Scottish Parliament. You will have regular contact with SGLD colleagues and policy colleagues across SG. You will also have contact with SI Registrars in The National Archives.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

* Preparing for and laying SSIs in Parliament, including liaising with policy colleagues across SG to provide advice on procedure and ensuring they produce all the relevant documents for laying an SSI.
* Providing advice on timetabling, formatting, laying and parliamentary procedure to solicitors within SGLD.
* Formatting SSIs ahead of signing by Ministers and laying in the Scottish Parliament and publication on Formatting must be compliant with the standards and rules set by the National Archives and The Stationary Office. This aspect of the role will change following the rollout of the new SSI template.
* Assisting with the rollout of the new SSI template in due course.
* Liaising with PLU about the management of the SSI programme.
* Contributing to the continuous improvement of the work of the SSI Unit.
