Detailed job description and main responsibilities Alongside the lead nurse for clinical nutrition and nutrition nurse specialist you will accept verbal and ICE referrals and assess those referred to the nutrition team for Parenteral Nutrition for short; medium or long-term Parenteral Nutrition. The post holder will regularly monitor; support and communicate with patients, Vascular Access, Pharmacy and the referring teams to advice them about the patients parenteral nutrition care. Please see detailed Job Description attached Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria Current Registered Nurse with the NMC Able to evidence recent and continuing professional development relevant to artificial nutrition Desirable criteria Relevant experience in head & neck, stroke, cancer, palliative care, gastrointestinal, surgical or critical care nursing Experience Essential criteria Experience of caring for patients receiving Parenteral Nutrition Experience of managing challenging situations to a positive outcome Desirable criteria Experience of managing a team and staff performance Knowledge Essential criteria Knowledge of Parenteral and enteral nutrition practice and products Knowledge of the complications and risks / side effects of Parenteral Nutrition, nasogastric and gastrostomy feeding and enteral feeding Desirable criteria Has been involved in the management of change and complaints within the department It is an exciting time to join the newly formed Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
