Position Overview
William College is seeking a proactive and dedicated Additional Needs Tutor to join our team. In this vital role, you will provide high-quality academic and learning support to students with a range of additional needs, ensuring they have the tools, confidence, and tailored guidance required to succeed.
As an Additional Needs Tutor, you will play a central part in fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment where every student feels understood, empowered, and fully able to engage in their educational journey at William College.
Key Responsibilities
* Adapt learning materials to ensure accessibility and align with students’ individual learning goals, strengths, and challenges.
* Deliver one-to-one support using a range of teaching approaches, assistive technologies, and accommodations to maximise learning outcomes.
* Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams particularly the Student Wellbeing Team to create and implement Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).
* Support academic staff in applying additional learning accommodations within the classroom.
* Liaise with external professionals to provide intensive one-to-one support where required.
* Work within the Student Success Department to ensure consistent and effective student support.
* Develop and deliver workshops for students requiring additional needs support.
* Create accessible learning materials for Business and Law students.
* Stay informed about current developments, best practices, and research in the field of additional needs and inclusive education.
* Complete administrative tasks such as maintaining student records and preparing progress reports.
Skills & Qualification Requirements
Essential:
* Degree in education, psychology, business, or equivalent qualification in related subjects.
* SEN / Additional Needs experience—ideally 3+ years, preferably within a further or higher-education setting.
* Experience with DSA processes or similar frameworks (desirable).
* Sensitivity and empathy with students, colleagues and staff.
* Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, including active listening and effective written and verbal communication.
* Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work in a face paced environment to manage competing demands while meeting deadlines.
* Flexible, approachable and an excellent team player.
* High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Desirable:
* Strong commitment to service delivery with experience in student or academic administration within higher education.
