Pastoral Manager – Secondary School

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Manager to join our secondary school team in Middlesbrough. You will play a key role in supporting the wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and safeguarding of students across KS3 and KS4.

Key Responsibilities
1. Lead pastoral care and student wellbeing initiatives across the school
2. Monitor attendance, punctuality, and behaviour, intervening when necessary
3. Provide emotional and practical support to students, acting as a trusted point of contact
4. Collaborate with teachers, senior leaders, and safeguarding leads to implement behaviour and wellbeing strategies
5. Build strong relationships with parents/carers and liaise with external agencies (, social services, CAMHS)
6. Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and inclusion within the school community
7. Ensure safeguarding concerns are reported and acted upon in line with school policy
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
8. Good general education (GCSEs in English and Maths)
9. Experience working with young people in schools, youth work, or social care settings
10. Knowledge of safeguarding, behaviour management, and child protection frameworks
11. Excellent communication, empathy, and conflict-resolution skills
Desirable:
12. Degree or Level 3/4 qualification in education, psychology, youth work, or related field
13. Training in counselling, mental health support, or First Aid
14. Previous experience in a pastoral, behaviour, or attendance role within a school
