We are seeking a dedicated Deputy Health and Safety Advisor to support the delivery of effective safety management within a leading physics department for a top university. This role involves working closely with the Department Health and Safety Manager to develop and implement safety policies, oversee statutory compliance and foster a strong safety culture across all activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with developing and maintaining health, safety, and environmental policies aligned with legal and university standards.
* Oversee statutory compliance for equipment and research areas, ensuring remedial actions are completed promptly.
* Coordinate safety audits, inspections, and assessments, providing feedback for continuous improvement.
* Manage the administration of safety activities, including meetings, documentation, and safety inductions.
You will need
* A strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation relevant to research‑led environments.
* NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent, with commitment to pursuing the NEBOSH Diploma.
* Excellent communication skills, with ability to liaise effectively with staff, students, and external contractors.
* Proven organisation skills with the ability to manage multiple safety activities simultaneously.
