SF Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Payroll Specialist for a long term contract opportunity based in Birmingham City Centre.
Key Responsibilities :
End-to-end processing of monthly payroll for 300+ employees
Ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time in line with statutory requirements
Processing starters, leavers, salary changes, bonuses, overtime, and deductions
Managing statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP, and SHPP
Ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations, RTI submissions, and payroll deadlines
Managing pension auto-enrolment, opt-ins/opt-outs, and pension submissions
Processing payroll journals and reconciling payroll control accounts
Handling payroll queries from employees in a professional and confidential manner
Liaising with HMRC, pension providers, and other external bodies when required
Supporting payroll audits and year-end processes including P60s and P11Ds (if applicable)
Maintaining accurate payroll records and employee data in line with GDPR
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience in a payroll position (in-house or bureau)
Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements
Experience processing payroll for a medium to large employee base
Familiarity with payroll systems
Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
Ability to manage deadlines and work under pressure
Confident communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive information
Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables desirable)
