Network Operations Technician - Lower Brighouse treatment works and surrounding areas

We have two vacancies for Network Operation Technicians in the Customer Field Services department covering the Lower Brighouse and surrounding areas in West Yorkshire. Candidates should live approximately 30 to 40 minutes from any of our wastewater sites in these areas.
Work type
Permanent opportunities working rotational 40‑hour work patterns on a 4 on 4 off basis (no standby included). This includes late, early, and weekend work patterns.

Customer Field Services play a key part in meeting the evolving expectations of customers and regulators.
Where you fit in!
As a Network Operation Technician, you deliver first‑time fixes and same‑day solutions to customers and environmental problems, and execute the asset plan for network maintenance to eliminate escapes. You work field‑based within a geographical team to improve customer service and wastewater network performance. You ensure a first‑time fix solution for customers and the environment, raise quality follow‑on work in accordance with our standards and specifications, and guarantee correct site setup and risk management. You proactively maintain the sewerage network to prevent sewage escapes and work closely with Yorkshire Water teams and contracted partners to resolve operational issues on the sewer network. You operate different vehicle types as required and conduct thorough investigations to resolve issues and prevent repeat customer contacts. You use IT systems for information collating and reporting, including photographing and reporting on any escape or issue from the sewer network. You may maintain and install Customer Sewer Alarms and work with third‑party providers. You comply with Health and Safety practices, demonstrate financial awareness, provide technical support and first‑line response to customer contacts, and promote the most cost‑effective resolution.
What skills & qualifications you will need
Essential
* Practical mindset, enjoy outdoors work in all weathers, and a hands‑on approach.
* Previous customer‑service experience with face‑to‑face communication.
* Ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external working relationships.
* Confidence in questioning unsafe working practices and reporting them.
* Excellent communication skills to capture, evidence, and feedback information.
* Experience of delivering against challenging business targets.
* Fault‑finding and root‑cause diagnosis skills.
* Rational problem‑solving skills and basic IT skills; use of internal IT systems.
* Flexibility to work a variety of rosters, including out‑of‑hour standby.
* Capability to work within confined spaces and pass strict medical criteria (BMI, vision, blood pressure, hearing, Spirometry).
* Full valid driving licence with no more than 6 points.
Additional attributes
* Understanding of the sewerage system and performance issues.
* Competence in using IT systems applicable to Yorkshire Water.
* Previous experience in water, wastewater, utilities, process or manufacturing industries.
* Knowledge of drainage and sewerage systems.
* Desire for flexible working patterns and job share options.
