About the Role
Working in our Operations and Safety team, you will collaborate with senior experts and specialists across WSP. Your work will span roads, rail, energy, and active travel, providing tailored operational safety solutions for central and local government clients. You will undertake high‑quality technical work across the Intelligent Infrastructure discipline, supporting junior colleagues and driving the growth of our capabilities.
Typical Week
* Provide expert advice to clients supporting their objectives.
* Collaborate with specialists across WSP on safety risk assessments, operating procedures, policy and major projects.
* Present findings and recommendations to client forums and industry stakeholders.
* Engage with stakeholders such as emergency services, operational staff, highway authorities, and breakdown recovery operators.
* Hold lead responsibility for technical packages, ensuring delivery in time, cost, and quality, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
* Support the development of early‑career professionals within the Operational Safety capability.
What We Are Looking For
* Experience preparing and/or reviewing safety risk assessments, particularly in the transport domain.
* A degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (e.g., civil engineering, transport studies, geography, psychology, arts) or a technician with BTEC, HNC/HND and appropriate experience.
* A passion for systematic safety integration (e.g., the safe system approach and Vision Zero).
* A proven track record in a consultancy role, or the aptitude and skills to provide excellent consultancy support.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to undertake qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
* A conscientious approach with attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
* Excellent stakeholder relationships and collaboration skills.
* Experience contributing to or developing client proposals.
