Overview
Inspire Resourcing are recruiting for a Design Engineer to join a highly skilled and growing engineering team in Chesterfield. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer with a passion for design, problem‑solving, and product development.
The ideal candidate will have experience designing components using a range of manufacturing processes including casting, machining, and fabrication, and will be confident producing and maintaining drawings using modern CAD software. Experience with PLM systems is advantageous but not essential, as full on‑the‑job training will be provided.
You will work closely with the Engineering Manager and wider technical team, contributing to new product development, value engineering, and project delivery.
Role Responsibilities

Creating detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D engineering drawings.

Maintaining and improving existing product lines, including updating drawings and models in line with EAN procedures.
*
Supporting value engineering initiatives and product improvement projects.
*
Producing and maintaining instruction manuals, operating manuals, and sales literature.
*
Assisting with contract documentation and supporting the engineering team on large‑scale, one‑off projects.
*
Contributing to the development of quality procedures and work instructions for workshop and factory operations.
*
Participating in client meetings, project reviews, and cross‑functional discussions.
*
Managing Bills of Materials (BOMs) within the company’s MRP system.
*
Preparing designs, calculations, specifications, and tender documentation as part of the project team.
Education & Experience
*
Degree‑level qualification (B.Sc./B.Eng or equivalent) in Engineering.
*
Demonstrable design skills with a strong understanding of engineering principles.
*
Solid understanding of geometrical tolerances and engineering standards.
*
Competent user of 2D CAD software such as AutoCAD.
*
Good working knowledge of 3D CAD software such as PTC Creo or SolidWorks.
*
Strong numerical ability and methodical problem‑solving skills.
*
Experience creating and controlling BOMs within CAD or MRP systems.
*
Background in mechanical engineering is advantageous but not essential.
