Position: Patient Pathway Officer - Clinical Haematology

Overview
An exciting opportunity to work within Haematology to facilitate the smooth running of the patient journey by ensuring that coordinated and streamlined administrative processes revolve around the patient and their individual needs.
Responsibilities
* Provide administrative support to all clinical staff within the clinical area including consultants, nurse specialists and junior doctors, ensuring effective coordination of their diaries and managing cancellations and reinstatements of clinics in line with planned and unplanned leave.
* Support the clinical team, service manager and other divisional managers to enable safe and effective service delivery while ensuring compliance with contractual access targets such as the 18‑week Referral to Treatment target.
* Provide cross‑cover for other patient pathway coordinators to maintain a consistent and effective administration service at all times.
* Maintain good telephone communication skills when dealing with patients, doctors, nursing and midwifery teams and outside agencies.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE Maths & English Grade C or above
* ECDL or IT qualifications
* NVQ Level 4 or higher national diploma
Knowledge and Experience
* Experience in an administrative healthcare setting
* Understanding and knowledge of key access targets, e.g. 18‑week RTT target
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This role requires submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
