Overview

The Head Inclusion will be a key member of both the Primary and Secondary Leadership teams. She will work closely with Vice Principals and Deputy Heads to establish the systems, structures and processes to enable all girls to access the curriculum and achieve. The Head Inclusion will be a highly visible and engaging ambassador for the school and a credible role model with experience in leadership in either or a Head of EAL or SENCO role. The Head Inclusion will promote the values, ethos and philosophy of the school and the vision and values set out by the school, ensuring Qatari National Identity and values are at the center of all we do.

DSGD Key Responsibilities

* Strategic Direction, Development and Accountability
o Promote a vision for SEND and EAL provision that is innovative, distinctive across the school.
o As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, participate in formulating and delivering the school’s strategic goals.
o Be a highly visible presence, lead by example, and provide inspiration and motivation.
o Inspire and enthuse staff with a clear vision for EAL and SEND provision.
o Lead on related CPD with staff including team teaching and lesson observations where appropriate.
o Line manage the department’s staffing including SENCO and any dedicated staff.
o In collaboration with SENCOs, manage identification and intervention support for additional learning needs (SEND, EAL, Learning Support, Physical Challenges).
o Implement innovative initiatives to contribute to student success and wellbeing; adapt UK and international educational developments where relevant.
o Ensure school policies and strategies are embedded across the school.
o Contribute to annual development review and strategic plan for improvement.
o Establish and maintain a climate of positivity and inclusivity; ensure safe, secure environments and excellent behaviour and progress.
o Oversee pupil progress of SEND pupils with SENCOs and Deputy Heads Academic; lead on data discussions where necessary.
o With the Principal, explore alternative income streams to support girls and generate revenue for the school.
* Leadership and Management
o Organize initial assessment of pupils with SENCOs and oversee the writing and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
o Collaborate with Examinations Officer to ensure appropriate examination concessions are in place.
o Maintain constructive dialogue with parents, pupils and school staff; establish links with external agencies.
o Monitor differentiation and implementation of IEPs with SENCOs and staff.
o Inform teaching staff of policies, developments, procedures and pupil needs.
o Be responsible for day-to-day organisation and management of assigned staff and pupils.
o Coordinate with Heads of Year, EYFS and Sixth Form on SEND pupil progress.
o Foster a culture of collaborative, progressive learning; communicate effectively with high emotional intelligence.
o Lead and manage Learning Support and EAL teams in liaison with Deputy Heads and Vice Principals.
o Provide leadership and direction to support innovative teaching and high standards of achievement.
o Address concerns or complaints from parents and pupils promptly and effectively.
o Oversee SEND and EAL budgets.
o Work with Principal and SLT to manage appraisal and performance management, including coaching and professional development.
o Empower staff to develop leadership potential; lead regular meetings and participate in data and other meetings as required.
o Collaborate with Vice Principals and Deputy Heads to monitor and evaluate teaching and learning.
* Admissions and Marketing
o Support school marketing through attendance and presentations at events including Open Mornings and online events.
o Develop parental engagement events to aid retention and academic progress.
o Contribute to marketing materials.
o Ensure relevant background information about individual children is collected and updated at admission.
o Collaborate with Admissions to assess potential new pupils and suitability for courses.
* Teaching and Learning
o Collaborate with teachers to ensure Quality First Teaching and meet the needs of all pupils.
o Ensure SEN pupils have full access to the curriculum; advise on differentiated resources and schemes of work.
o Maintain a safe and productive learning environment; monitor and evaluate curriculum relevance and value.
o Model excellence in teaching; promote high expectations and continuous improvement.
o Support differentiated scaffolded learning opportunities and strategies for all students.
* Pastoral Care
o Collaborate with Deputy Heads (Pastoral) and Deputy Head (Wellbeing) to ensure high standards of pastoral care.
o Participate in safeguarding as required.
o Lead assemblies as required.
o Monitor attendance and punctuality with staff; contact parents as needed.
o Maintain good communication with parents/guardians as appropriate.


Skills, Qualifications and Experience

* Bachelor’s degree (university)
* At least 3 years in a leadership role in an educational setting
* Expertise in SEND, EAL, and Learning Support with ability to lead inclusive practices
* Ability to contribute to whole-school strategy, set clear goals, and lead initiatives to improve outcomes
* Experience in managing and mentoring staff, leading CPD, and fostering a collaborative team culture
* Strong understanding of supporting differentiated, high-quality learning experiences
* Proficient in analysing student data to track progress and inform school improvement
* Commitment to safeguarding, pastoral support, and holistic development of learners
* Understanding and promotion of Qatari national identity and community engagement
