About Us


We’re a dynamic, fast-paced market research agency delivering impactful insights for our clients. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a proactive, highly organised, and detail-oriented Finance Manager to join our team.


This is a part-time position offering flexibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to shape our internal finance processes as we scale.


The Role


This role is central to the smooth financial and operational running of the agency. You will take ownership of all day-to-day finance work, manage the month-end process up to trial balance, produce accurate management accounts, and maintain strong financial controls.


You will also oversee some general office and operational tasks, ensuring that our team and office environment run efficiently.


Key Responsibilities


Finance (Approximately 80%)


Month-End & Management Accounts


* Complete month-end close processes including journals, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, and reconciliations.
* Produce monthly management accounts with commentary, variance analysis and insights to support decision-making.
* Maintain an accurate trial balance and prepare schedules for internal and external reporting.
* Assist the FD with budgeting, forecasting and cashflow planning.


Bookkeeping & Financial Control


* Maintain the day-to-day accounting ledgers including sales, purchase, bank, and general ledger postings.
* Reconcile all key balance sheet accounts monthly (bank, debtors, creditors, accruals, prepayments, control accounts).
* Monitor cashflow and prepare weekly updates as required.


Invoicing, Billing & Credit Control


* Raise accurate and timely invoices based on project milestones.
* Liaise with project managers to ensure invoicing aligns with timelines and contracted terms.
* Maintain structured credit control: monitor aged debtors, follow up payments, and report on overdue balances.


Supplier Management & Payments


* Process supplier invoices, manage approvals, oversee payment runs, and maintain supplier relationships.
* Ensure all supplier invoices are correctly authorised and coded.


Compliance


* Support year-end audit preparation and liaise with external accountants.
* Ensure financial processes and documentation meet best-practice standards.



Operations & Office Administration (Approximately 20%)


* Provide day-to-day office and administrative support to the delivery team.
* Manage office supplies, stationery, and kitchen essentials.
* Manage office-related budgets (e.g., food/drink budget).
* Handle incoming calls and direct queries appropriately.
* Process participant payments weekly and handle any related questions.
* Ensure the office environment remains organised and well-supported.


What We’re Looking For


Essential


* Significant experience in an accounting or management accounting role, ideally within a small business, agency, or professional services environment.
* Ability to produce a full set of management accounts and maintain the trial balance autonomously.
* Strong bookkeeping skills including reconciliations, journals, accruals, and prepayments.
* Confident working with accounting software (preferably Xero)
* Excellent Excel skills and ability to produce clear, insightful reporting.
* High levels of accuracy, organisation, and initiative.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to manage competing priorities independently.


Desirable


* AAT or QBE with strong practical experience.
* Experience improving financial processes and workflows.
* Experience supporting operations or administrative functions in a growing business.
