The Liaison Psychiatry Service is offering an exciting opportunity for either a Band 5-6 Developmental Liaison Psychiatry Practitioner to join our team based at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB) hospital sites, located between Burton on Trent, Lichfield, and Tamworth. Travel between sites will be expected.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with aspirations to progress, whether they are ready to take the next step or close to it. If appointed at Band 5-6, you will be supported to achieve a core set of competencies over 6-12 months. Upon successful completion, you will progress to Band 6.
You will provide mental health services for all-age mental health presentations. It is an exciting time to join our team as we have recently been commissioned to move to a 24/7, 365-day service. This role offers a unique opportunity for professionals with backgrounds in Nursing (RMN, RN, or LD Nurse), Occupational Therapy, or Social Work, who are interested in creating a responsive and holistic mental health service. Candidates must be fully qualified and registered with the relevant professional body.
Shifts will cover 24/7 on a rota basis. We are committed to flexible working and will consider requests for flexible working arrangements during the interview process.
Main duties of the job
1. You will provide high-quality mental health assessments, risk assessments, and treatment within physical healthcare settings.
2. You will support informal and formal training for acute trust staff regarding mental health and wellbeing.
3. You will conduct specialist assessments and care planning in collaboration with service users and carers, including evaluation and discharge planning.
4. You will facilitate the safe and timely discharge of patients and assist hospital staff in managing mental health risks.
5. You will develop, implement, and evaluate care programmes based on individual needs, communicating plans effectively to patients, families, and colleagues.
6. You will undertake detailed risk assessments and promote positive risk-taking to enhance quality of life and independence.
7. You will deliver interventions in line with care plans and pathway guidance.
