SALARY: From £114,810
LOCATION(S): Bristol, Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Chester, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Halifax, Hove, Leeds, Manchester, Newport or Rochdale
HOURS: Full time
WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in an office site

Here’s where you’ll make a difference!
1. Understands external market context and how it impacts the Groups' strategy.
2. Defines and takes ownership of the delivery roadmap for data and tooling capabilities that underpin our 2030 strategy.
3. Acts as a senior thought partner to the Consumer Relationships and Consumer Lending Data Directors, influencing investment and capability prioritisation.
4. Helps the Consumer business use new data capabilities during transition from legacy platforms to modern cloud-native environments.
5. Defines the consumption data products required to support intelligent decisioning, personalisation, and operational efficiency.
6. Drives the rollout of strategic tooling across Consumer Relationships, including self-serve analytics, data lineage, identity governance, and AI-assisted tooling.
7. Develops strategies and practices increasing colleagues’ data literacy.
8. Scans the horizon for new technologies (e.g. agentic AI, synthetic data, privacy-enhancing tech) and translate them into actionable opportunities.
9. Stays updated with the latest data trends and anticipates new data analysis requirements.
10. Keeps us safe, working closely with CDAO, Risk, and Controls teams.
11. Tracks tangible and quantifiable delivery through of strategic objectives and tooling adoption.

What you’ll need...
Data Architecture & Engineering
12. Deep understanding of modern data platforms (e.g. GCP, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Dataflow).
13. Experience with data modelling (e.g. star schema, data vault), metadata management, lineage, and data lifecycle governance.
Tooling Ecosystems
14. Familiarity with enterprise tooling such as SailPoint, Collibra, Tableau, Looker, dbt, and orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow).
15. Understanding of identity and access management, role-based access control, and data masking techniques.
AI & Analytics
16. Knowledge of AI/ML tooling (e.g. Vertex AI, DataRobot), model governance, and responsible AI principles.
17. Experience enabling self-serve analytics and building capabilities for business-led insight generation.
Cloud & DevOps
18. Experience working in cloud-native environments with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and containerisation (e.g. Terraform, Kubernetes).
19. Understanding of data security, encryption, and compliance in regulated environments.
Leadership Attributes
20. Experience in leading large-scale data and technology transformation programmes in financial services.
21. Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to operate at ExCo and Board level.
