Wates is seeking a talented Senior Sustainability Advisor to play a key role in delivering the Wates Group Environmental Sustainability Plan. The role involves identifying energy and carbon hot spots, driving improvements, and implementing initiatives across the Wates Group portfolio to reduce carbon emissions. The successful candidate will also support annual reporting on carbon and energy performance.
The role requires engaging with projects and supply chain partners to reduce carbon emissions in line with science-based targets. Responsibilities include working with supply chain partners to identify low carbon solutions, produce EPDs, set science-based targets, produce awareness campaign materials, undertake audits, and provide costed recommendations for emissions reduction.
Other Sustainability and Environmental Professionals will support conducting compliance audits and reporting to the Head of Energy and Carbon.

AS OUR SENIOR SUSTAINABILITY ADVISOR, YOU WILL:
* Conduct energy, carbon, and environmental audits and inspections on construction sites.
* Support and guide projects and departments on sustainability matters.
* Collaborate with procurement, supply chain, and commercial teams to engage the supply chain and drive carbon reduction measures, focusing on SBTi targets.
* Report and measure the environmental impact of projects and business units, with a focus on carbon and energy reporting for SBTi targets.
The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of international standards such as ISO 14001, ISO 50001, BS EN 16247, and experience with Environmental Management Systems, carbon accounting, SBTi, and GHG protocols. They should be able to translate these standards into practical sustainability solutions. A degree in Environmental Science, Management, Engineering (construction-related), or Architecture is required, along with membership in relevant professional bodies (e.g., ICE, IEMA, CIWM, IOA, CIBSE).
This role can be based in London or Midlands, with some travel, and involves a mix of office and site work.
