Software Manager | Industrial & Safety Communications | Global Role
Are you an experienced software leader ready to take ownership of a global firmware and software function in a business where what you build genuinely matters?
We're working with a fast-growing technology company that designs, manufactures, and supports advanced wireless communication and safety systems deployed across some of the world's most demanding environments including mining, construction, ports, warehousing, and public safety. They're in an exciting growth phase and have created this role to significantly strengthen their firmware and software capability.
The Role
Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, the Software Manager will lead the global FW/SW function end-to-end from planning and process ownership through to hands-on project management and customer engagement. This isn't a purely strategic seat; you'll be in the detail, leading people, managing outsourced partners, and making sure software deliverables land on time and to spec.
What You'll Be Doing
* Leading and developing in-house firmware and software engineering teams across multiple locations
* Building and executing software development plans aligned to the company's technology roadmap
* Owning SW/FW project management from requirements capture through to release and maintenance
* Managing outsourced software activities and third-party partners
* Working cross-functionally with Operations, Services, Sales, and Systems Engineering
* Representing software at customer meetings and supporting bids and proposals
What You'll Bring
* 3+ years in a software or firmware leadership role
* Experience leading globally distributed SW/FW teams
* Hands-on background across at least two of: bare metal programming, embedded Linux, or .NET application development
* Strong grasp of end-to-end software development processes
* Experience with Jira and associated tooling
* Excellent communication skills you'll be customer-facing and cross-functional
* Background in telecommunications, IoT, or sensor systems is a strong advantage
* Degree in Software Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field
* Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed
