Overview
We’re looking for an experienced Principal Engineer to lead the inspection, maintenance, and improvement of a major network assets. This is a leadership role focused on delivering operational excellence, safety culture transformation, and long-term asset performance.
Responsibilities
* Lead the delivery of building & civils inspection, maintenance, and renewals
* Develop and implement annual business plans aligned with safety, compliance, and budget targets
* Drive cultural transformation in safety and engineering assurance
* Ensure compliance with standards, CDM regulations, and the Engineering Management Plan
* Lead and develop a skilled, competent, and flexible engineering team
* Collaborate with stakeholders and suppliers to innovate and improve performance
* Create and implement weather resilience and system integration strategies
Qualifications
* Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering + relevant professional qualification
* Strong technical experience in infrastructure inspections and maintenance
* Proven leadership and communication skills
* Full UK Driving Licence
* High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
* Experience with Enterprise Asset Management Systems
* Background in railway operations or safety-critical engineering roles
