Job Description:
AFC Wimbledon Women are looking to recruit a dedicated, self-motivated, and knowledgeable individual interested in entering the progressive world of women’s football at Tier 3, working with elite female footballers.
We are seeking Chartered Physiotherapists, Sports Therapists, or Sports Rehabilitators to join our Medical department. The Medical Therapist plays a vital role in AFC Wimbledon Women’s long-term vision.
The successful candidate will work within a Tier 3 women’s football club, providing physiotherapy and rehabilitation services for all women’s team players, including occasional involvement with pathway players.
Candidates should be flexible with working hours, including weekends, midweek sessions, and occasional overnight stays. This role offers excellent opportunities for proactive individuals passionate about football, with internal CPD opportunities and the chance to stay current with literature and practical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide emergency first aid during training and matches
* Conduct clinical assessments of injured players before games
* Maintain detailed records of injuries and treatments, uploading them to our platform
* Communicate regularly with coaches, strength and conditioning staff, and players regarding injuries and player availability
* Participate in in-house CPD sessions
* Support the development of junior therapists within the women’s pathway
* Ensure compliance with all club policies, including health and safety, equality, safeguarding, and confidentiality
Qualifications and requirements:
* BSc degree in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation
* HCPC/BASRaT/SST registration
* In-date EMFA qualification (and commitment to annual reaccreditation)
* Willingness to work with high-level athletes, including injury management and rehabilitation planning
* Medical insurance suitable for treating semi-professional women’s footballers
* Ability to participate in football at a high level
* MSc in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation (preferred)
