What will your role look like?

Our Defined Contribution Consulting (DCC) Business Unit sits at the heart of our consulting services and is recognised as a UK market leader. We’re proud to advise a diverse portfolio of corporate and trustee clients across multiple sectors, including local government pension schemes.

We’re delighted to welcome applications for a Senior DC Investment Consultant to join this high‑performing team. At Hymans, we want you to thrive—supported by a culture that is friendly, partnering, straight‑forward and confident.

You can be based in any of our UK offices—London, Birmingham, Edinburgh or Glasgow—and enjoy the flexibility of hybrid working. This role offers the best of both worlds: the wellbeing benefits of working from home and the energy of our sociable, modern office environments.

Though this is a varied role, your key tasks will include:

1. Providing high-quality, tailored investment advice to trustee and corporate clients, drawing on strategic insight and innovative thinking.
2. Managing a portfolio of clients, nurturing relationships and ensuring their needs are met with clarity and confidence.
3. Playing an active role in new business activity—contributing ideas, developing tenders, preparing pitches and presenting as part of the team.
4. Helping raise the profile of the DCC team and the wider Firm through networking and speaking opportunities at industry events.
5. Supporting the development of our consulting capability by coaching and mentoring colleagues.
6. Upholding the Firm’s professional standards, as well as those of any relevant professional bodies.

To enjoy and succeed in this role, you will have:

Skills & Experience

7. Experience working within the pensions industry.
8. Knowledge of the DC market—covering areas such as auto‑enrolment, Chair’s Statements, disclosure requirements, Statements of Investment Principles and private market investments.
9. A track record of providing investment advice to corporate and/or trustee clients.
10. Confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
11. Knowledge of DC providers’ investment strategies (advantageous).
12. Experience of advising on AVC arrangements (advantageous).

Qualifications

13. Likely to be FFA/FIA or CFA qualified, or otherwise appropriately authorised to provide investment advice.

15. A flexible, proactive and innovative mindset.
16. Strong analytical ability.
17. Effective project management and multi‑tasking skills.
18. A collaborative approach, combined with confidence to work independently.
19. Leadership qualities—both in role-modelling behaviours and contributing creative ideas.
20. The ability to engage, motivate and bring people with you.
