Junior Sister (Band 6) – Children & Young People’s Day Unit
We are looking for a highly motivated Junior Sister to join our team at The Royal Marsden Hospital. Candidates should be experienced Band 6 staff nurses with a background in SACT administration, intrathecal and recovery competency (other relevant backgrounds will also be considered).
About the Unit
The Children & Young People’s Day Unit (CYPDU) sees over 6,000 patients annually, delivering systemic anti‑cancer therapy, radiotherapy, procedures under general anaesthesia, and supportive care. It includes a TYA Day Care Bay with 4 chairs.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate and supervise a shift, communicating effectively with multidisciplinary team members.
* Exercise clinical judgment and decision‑making regarding patient needs, long‑term goals and plans.
* Participate fully in the day‑to‑day organisation and running of CYPDU, Outpatient, McElwain Ward and Teenage Cancer Unit, including oversight of e‑scheduling, outpatient, admissions and community appointments.
Qualifications
* Band 6 staff nurse experience.
* Background in SACT administration, intrathecal and recovery competency (other relevant experience considered).
* Strong clinical judgment and evidence‑led care.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
