About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Fabrication & Welding Assessor to join our dynamic Apprenticeship Team. Based at our Pyle Centre, you will play a vital role in delivering and assessing Level 2 and Level 3 apprenticeship programmes. This role combines classroom-based teaching with on-site assessments and involves close collaboration with employers to ensure a high-quality, work-based learning experience for apprentices.
You will be responsible for supporting apprentices in developing their technical knowledge, practical skills, and workplace behaviours to meet the standards of the qualification and industry expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver the practical and theoretical components of the apprenticeship programme.
* Conduct workplace assessments and provide detailed, constructive feedback.
* Collaborate with internal teams, including those delivering Essential Skills Wales and learning support, to ensure a cohesive learner journey.
* Carry out regular learner progress reviews and communicate effectively with employers to monitor and support development.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date learner records, including progress tracking and attendance, using platforms such as Smart Assessor.
* Build and maintain strong professional relationships with employers to support the delivery of effective work-based learning.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Industry experience with fabrication and welding
* Experience within a teaching/assessing environment
* Strong communication and organisational skills with a learner-focused approach.
* IT proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Office applications.
* Ability to manage workload effectively in a high-performance environment.
Desirable Qualifications:
Assessor Qualification (training will be provided if not currently held).
* Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed).
Additional Requirements:
Successful applicants will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check, including the Children's Barred List, and register with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
