Sessional Play Workers needed for ASN Summer Club
Inverclyde Council is looking to recruit support staff experienced with working with children with additional support needs (ASN) to support its summer club.
The council is keen to increase the number of places available to ASN children over the summer holidays but needs to hire more staff in order to do this.
Councillor Jim Clocherty, convener of education and communities said: “We know parents have been asking for extra spaces for ASN children but we need to have enough staff to be able to offer this.
“We know the difference this support makes to parents during the summer holidays. And of course the children love it too.
“If you, or someone you know, fits the bill and would be keen to get some extra work during the summer, please get in touch.”
We anticipate the summer club will run for four weeks from Monday 30 June until Friday 25 July although if you are unable to work all four of these weeks, we still want to hear from you. You will be based at Craigmarloch School, Port Glasgow and work between 8.30am and 4.30pm. Flexible working and part-time hours are available.

The minimum qualification required is SVQ LEVEL 2 Playwork but SCQF LEVEL 5 or above in Childcare would be accepted. You must also be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) as a Support Worker
Previous experience working with children with additional support needs in an out of school service, school setting or early years establishment is essential. You should also have excellent communication skills both verbal and non-verbal. Knowledge of health and safety regulations would be welcomed.

Vetting by Disclosure Scotland
If you work in regulated work (children and/or protected adults) you will be subject to obtaining a satisfactory PVG. A small number of posts require a Standard or Basic Disclosure check and the majority of all other posts will complete a Criminal Convictions Form. All disclosure checks are obtained via Disclosure Scotland. If you are the successful candidate you will be required to pay the cost of the disclosure check required for your post.
Regulatory Bodies
If your post requires registration with a Regulatory Body such as HCPC or SSSC etc., you are required to obtain and maintain registration including paying any fees for HCPC. As part of the local government pay deal, local authority staff are no longer required to pay SSSC fees.
