A Little More About Your Role… You will join our established highways and structures team in Exeter, comprising over 30 professionals engaged in the delivery of WSPs long-term professional services contract for local authorities across the South West. Your time will be split between working on-site and WSP’s vibrant Exeter city centre office where there is easy access to public transport links and city centre amenities. You will work within a team of established professionals with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the management of highways related construction in the county. You will be further supported by colleagues from across WSP who provide additional resources and specialist expertise to deliver high quality services. Our clients in the region include Devon County Council, who are responsible for a road network 13,000km in length, over 3000 bridges and nearly 2000 retaining walls. As delivery partners since 2020, WSP continues to support efforts to maintain and improve their network with over £500 million due to be invested in Devon's network over the next five years. Works requiring supervision by your team in 2026 include Cullompton Town Centre Relief Road, the A38 Deep Lane improvements, and a range of smaller projects to provide Active Travel Improvements, Bus Infrastructure Improvements, and Highways Structural Maintenance Works. You will play a vital role by discharging the duties or Supervisor under the NEC Contract. You will use your construction knowledge to verify that work is delivered in accordance with the design and specification. You will work alongside the NEC Project Manager to notify Defects, raise Early Warnings and Compensation Events. We’d love to hear from you if you have: A good knowledge of highways construction methodology, either achieved through site operative experience or from a designer background. A mature and self-aware approach to achieving high standards of health and safety for yourself and others on, or affected by, construction sites. A sound understanding of the relevant legislation which you can communicate to others when required. A keen eye for detail, and the ability to work accurately and methodically to verify that construction work is delivered as designed, and meets the specification. Evidence of being a confident communicator with the ability to convey your point of view to a varied audience, and keep stakeholders and colleagues informed. CSCS card holder Familiarity with the NEC Construction Contracts will be advantageous, but not essential. Don’t quite meet all the criteria?
