We are recruiting an Electrical Shift Engineer
Duties of the Electrical Shift Engineer
As the post holder, you will have extensive understanding of Critical Facilities/Data Centre infrastructure (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing & associated assets). You will be part of the engineering shift team, responsible for inspection, operation, and maintenance of all associated MEP assets within the critical facility, focusing on risk management and service quality enhancement through technical engineering capabilities.
As an electrical-biased engineer, you will lead in Planned, Corrective, and Reactive Maintenance tasks, and other assets as required. You should be able to issue PTWs, ensuring compliance with method statements and risk assessments.
Duties include:
* Operational understanding of all MEP systems in the Critical Facility/Data Centre, with recommendations for improvements and technical reporting.
* Ensure efficient completion of Specialist Vendors' service visits, inspecting work quality and communicating recommendations.
* Provide backup cover for engineering shifts during absences, maintaining minimum staffing levels and supporting team members.
* Accurately report work completed, including critical spares/stock items used.
* Attend weekly and quarterly team meetings as scheduled.
* Complete shift handover reports, noting significant events or activities.
* Participate in Health and Safety activities, including hazard reporting and toolbox talks.
* Liaise with supply chain for M&E component orders.
* Take ownership of areas, ensuring they meet standards.
* Evaluate and escalate potential risks with impact assessments.
* Contribute to safe systems of work and ensure compliance with policies.
* Complete reactive, planned, and corrective work orders per SFG20 standards, ensuring asset reliability.
* Escalate ONWH Alarm Notifications as per procedures.
* Accurately complete Corrigo Work Orders, recording time and work details without errors.
Personal Specification:
* Minimum 5 years relevant experience in Critical Environments (e.g., Banking HQ, Data Centres).
* Electrical Engineering apprenticeship or similar; Mechanical Engineering experience is desirable.
* HVAC Engineering experience.
* Excellent communication skills across all staff levels.
* Proactive approach to operations.
* Good IT and report writing skills.
* Ability to work under pressure, remain calm, and deliver services within time constraints.
* Willingness to attend training, including nights away for courses like HV Authorised Person.
* High initiative, continuous improvement mindset.
* Strong customer understanding and communication skills.
* Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
* Enthusiasm, diligence, alertness, and participation in training.
* Integrity, honesty, punctuality.
