Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, theHome Manager is responsible as the registered manager to oversee the entireservice.
The Home Manager will lead and manage the operationof our specialist dementia nursing home, Berkeley Lodge, you will work closelywith your management team, providing strong leadership and inspiration. Toensure the highest standards are achieved in all areas of the home includingrelationship centred care, clinical compliance, hospitality services andbusiness performance.
Main duties of the job
What the home requires in a Manager:
1. NMC Registered Adult Nurse/RGN/RMN
2. Ideally experience of working as CQC Registered Manager specialising in Nursing care for the elderly and frail. Applicants with substantial experience working at Deputy Manager level may also be considered
3. A strong leader, who is able to motivate, lead and support clinical and non-clinical staff
4. Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of CQC essential standards and all legislation relevant to a nursing home
5. Financially aware and able to manage and adhere to budget

Job specific responsibilities
Leadership and Management
Overall responsibility of thehome.
Manage the recruitment andtraining of the team; ensuring training targets are met and all departments arecompetent in their roles.
Manage rotas and ensure correctteam member levels and skill mix within the home on a continual basis.
Lead, support, empower andinspire the team to ensure positive outcomes for the home.
Overall responsibility for thesupervision, appraisal and performance management of the team, supporting themto achieve their potential.
Lead the team to ensure theyare all aligned with the South Coast Nursing Homes ethos, and ensure they areimplementing evidence-based practice.
Lead regular communication withresidents, relatives, external professionals and Directors.
Manage financial budgets toensure revenue and income targets are met.
Ensure all reporting iscompleted accurately and on time.
Ensure that all regulatory andstatutory requirements are met and company policies and procedures are adheredto.
Ensure any requirements from internal andexternal audits are actioned within the timescales required.
Clinical Care
Manage the clinical team toensure that an outstanding level of person-centered care, dementia care andclinical care is being delivered within the home.
Ensure care plans are regularlyaudited and that they are appropriate to the residents needs and reflect thecare being delivered.
Ensure all the clinical teamare following best evidence-based practice
Encourage further clinicaltraining to enhance the knowledge of the clinical team and empower them to becompetent team members and independent practitioners.
Ensure all residents care isreflective of the care plans with appropriate assessments for all areas ofclinical care.
Complete all relevant paperworkto assist residents in their funding for accommodation and clinical referralsin a timely manner.
Non Clinical Care
Govern the Department Managersto ensure the highest standards are being achieved in the welfare of residents,dining experience, cleaning, laundry and home maintenance.
Customer Relationship
Encourage positive relationshipswith external health agencies
Ensure that the home has stronglinks and is integrated as part of the local community.
Ensure occupancy targets andfee levels for the home are achieved.
Manage the activity team toensure appropriate levels of meaningful activity are achieved throughout theweek.
To oversee that all staffactively engage with residents in conversation and meaningful occupationrelated to their lifestyle choices at a level and pace that values theindividual and respects their dignity and communication differences.
To respond and affirm that allstaff are replying to residents in a timely way, to avoid distress.
Health and Safety
Overall responsibility forHealth & Safety within the home for team, residents and visitors.
Ensure risk assessments arecompleted within the home and safe working practices are being followed.
Ensure equipment and environment is safewithin the home.
