Full Time, Permanent South West Regional Force applications Existing South West police force officers are not applying to join Avon and Somerset Constabulary. You will be seconded to SWROCU in line with the Joint Services Agreement and will remain on your home force terms and conditions. This recruitment platform is hosted by Avon and Somerset Constabulary. Transferring Officers from outside the South West region We have reached an agreement with all five regional police forces that allows you to apply directly for a SWROCU vacancy. If you are successful in this process you may then choose which of the five South West forces you wish to join. The South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SWROCU) is looking for experienced and motivated Constables who are keen to progress their career and develop their skillset as part of our Operations Team. Led by DCI Adam Smith, the Operations Team provides investigative and surveillance support for complex serious organised crime investigations. This includes fully adopting cases, starting from initial intelligence through to enforcement and prosecution. The team also provides dynamic operation support to forces and national law enforcement partners. From its bases near Bristol and Exeter the team proactively builds investigations against the highest risk Organised Crime Groups (OCGs) in the South West. The Team deploys numerous covert tactics to obtain independent evidence, build a case and ultimately present the evidence to the CPS and courts. A core case team is established for each investigation, with key roles allocated to team members such as OIC, Exhibits, Disclosure and Covert Authority Submissions. Skills, experience and qualifications required Essential : Evidence of tackling crime through proactive methods Ability to communicate effectively (Team, partners, CPS, law enforcement agencies, etc.) Expected to undertake the ICIDP process towards a PiP2 accreditation once in post Police Constables with Q1 Surveillance qualification Any courses must be passed to retain a permanent position on the team. Additional Information Vetting and safeguarding This post is subject to a higher security clearance at MV and SC – Management Vetting and Security Clearance Level. To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a five-year ‘checkable history’ in the UK – ideally this means that you would have been resident in the UK for the last five years.
