Overview
Job title: Logistics Chargehand (Nights) - Routine & Reactive
Location: Site-based at Hinkley Point C, Somerset
Salary: £23.28 per hour
Working Hours: 42 hours per week on average
Working Pattern: Varied, 12-hour shifts, from 18:00 to 06:00, on a 4 on, 5 off, 5 on, 4 off, 5 on, 5 off pattern.
Responsibilities
* Supervising a team of logistics operatives
* Completing daily briefings before work starts, and ensuring all operatives understand their daily tasks and any hazards
* Informing operatives of changes related to site duties or site requirements – sign off POWRA where required
* Supervising housekeeping, movement of materials from the off-loading point to work areas, waste segregation, and waste removal
* Managing/recording/replenishing/maintaining fire points, consumables and signage
* Ensuring photo evidence is taken of materials delivered and provided to the fleet team supervisor before end of each shift
* Obtaining a supervisor/manager signature on each delivery note; hand over delivery notes to the fleet supervisor before end of each shift
* Supervising logistics winterisation processes during cold and freezing temperatures
* Completing daily checks-sheets, reporting defects to the manager and keeping records for audit
* Delivering familiarisation/competency training and maintaining records for audit/data
* Maintaining plant/equipment and keeping records for audit/data
* Supervising spill clean-up on site, including biohazards
* Ensuring plant/equipment are fit for use and secured when not in use
* Giving toolbox talks to operatives weekly and keeping records
* Coordinating and implementing fire and emergency arrangements throughout the building
What We Need From You
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Essential
* A CITB Supervisor H&S test (to be completed before the start date)
* SSSTS (or working towards)
* Warehouse or construction experience
* Previous supervisory experience
* Basic IT skills
* Ability to think and act quickly in emergencies or under pressure
* Evidence of ability to deliver succinct and clear verbal and written reports
Desirable
* Experience of working within the construction industry
* Driving licence
* Knowledge of mechanical & electrical tooling and consumables
* Understanding logistics limitations and regulations
* Ability to read fire and emergency plans
Site Specific Information
* Three-year work history and vetting per HPC protocols
* Ability to obtain the HPC pass
* Site is remote; bus journey of 45 minutes each way required
