We have an exciting opportunity for a pharmacist with a passion for working within medicine to join our clinical pharmacy team at University Hospitals Sussex. This role is for the lead pharmacist for Medicine at St Richards Hospital. The successful candidate will be engaged in actively reviewing patients across our medicine wards alongside our junior pharmacist team and will have close contact with the MDT to provide excellent standards of care. We seek a clinically experienced pharmacist with a passion to develop their skills in this area. As a senior member of the pharmacy team, you will be an integral part of the department and help support and promote our pharmacy and clinical strategies.
We are a department that seeks to be a pioneer with the use of technology with electronic prescribing present on all our medical wards.
You will have delegated responsibility for all our medicine wards and supervising junior members of staff within their rotations. We are committed to providing opportunities for you to develop your clinical & management skills. Main duties of the job
The primary role of this specialist post is to lead and provide a comprehensive, high quality pharmacy service for medical patients at St Richards Hospital. The post holder will be an integral part of this service; clinical pharmacy leadership, governance support and providing expert advice.
The post holder will:
• Lead, provide and develop a clinical pharmacy service for medical patients at St Richards Hospital
• Lead a pharmacy team to help operationally and clinically deliver pharmaceutical services to related wards, working closely with relevant surgical and medical pharmacists, supporting and covering, while developing services together.
• Be responsible for all aspects of Medicines Optimisation including the cost effective use of medicines within the Medicine Division.
• Lead on the provision of education to junior pharmacists and other healthcare professionals in a specialist area of interest within Medicine.
• Responsible for the development of policies, guidelines, audits and research relating to the use of medicines within the Medicine Division.
