Job Title: Senior Estates Surveyor

Rate: £300 Paye / £418 Umbrella or Deemed LTD

About the Role We are currently seeking an experienced Interim Senior Estates Surveyor to join our dynamic Property & Estates team. This is a vital role focused on managing and developing a key portfolio of assets—including commercial property, strategic land, and development sites—to optimise financial returns and support the Council’s long-term strategic objectives.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in a high-performing team and contribute to the effective management of the Council’s property estate.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage an agreed portfolio of commercial and strategic assets, ensuring performance and income are maximised.
2. Undertake property management duties including rent reviews, lease renewals, landlord and tenant matters, and dealing with vacant properties.
3. Lead and coordinate projects as required and deputise for senior managers when necessary.
4. Provide valuations of residential and commercial property for various purposes (Right to Buy, equity share, etc.).
5. Support capital receipt targets through strategic property development and marketing of surplus assets.
6. Deliver expert advice to internal stakeholders, Members, and committees.
7. Ensure accurate records and asset data are maintained in line with operational procedures.
About You Essential Qualifications & Experience:
8. Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
9. Extensive experience in property management and a strong working knowledge of Landlord and Tenant Law.
10. Proven ability to manage complex cases and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
11. Demonstrable experience in commercial leasing, income recovery, and valuations.
12. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable:
13. RICS qualification.
14. Experience acting as an expert witness in legal or tribunal settings.
