Pelham Medical Practice are looking for an enthusiastic and forward thinking individual to join our friendly and supportive team as a salaried GP working two (2) days per week [four (4) clinical sessions].
Pelham are an ambitious, well organised and professional GP Practice, who have a growing patient population and are looking to develop a new 3 storey (22 clinical rooms) medical centre with planning permission secured in February 2025. Pelham is a GP training practice and delivers high quality care to 15,500 patients.
Pelham are the lead practice within the Gravesend Central PCN, we encourage specialist interests, offering CPD support and participation in regular clinical and MDT meetings.
The Practice has 4 GP Partners, 3 Salaried GPs and both our surgeries benefit from ample free parking.

Main duties of the job
You will manage a case load and will work autonomously on a day-to-day basis.
You will undertake several duties governed by the GMS contract including:
1. Face to face and telephone consultations
2. Checking and signing repeat prescriptions
3. Administrative tasks namely dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence as required
4. Cover all clinical management of in-surgery patients as appropriate including initiating investigations, reviewing results and making referrals to secondary care or to other providers as appropriate
5. Develop care and treatment plans in consultation with patients

Job responsibilities
Job summary:
The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
Clinical responsibilities:
1. In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
2. Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
3. Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
4. Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
5. Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols
6. Providing counselling and health education
7. Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
8. Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
9. Collecting data for audit purposes and complying with QoF requirements
10. Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
11. Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
12. In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care

1. Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety
2. A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice

5. Contributing to the summarising of patient records and read-coding patient data

Person Specification
Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent medical degree
* Full registration with GMC
* Certification of Completion of Training (JCPTGP/PMETB)
* Inclusion on Performers List
* Evidence of a commitment to on-going MRCGP
