Positions available: 1-2 Joiners. Contract: Temporary ongoing until December with potential extension for the right candidate. Location: Newcastle Under Lyme ST5. Pay Rate: £22.00 per hour paid weekly. Hours: FULL TIME Monday - Thursday 08:30-16:45, Friday 08:30-16:30
Responsibilities
* Carrying out a full range of repairs, maintenance, and planned improvement duties with emphasis on multi skilled works across the university estate
* Changing and fitting door hinges, intumescent strips, adjusting gaps to ensure proper sealing in case of fire
* Installing drop-down seals, replacing handles, changing door closers
* Carpentry and joinery work, locksmith work, changing door closers
* Always work within relevant Health and Safety legislation and guidelines when carrying out work, including preparation of work areas and use of PPE
* Carry out Risk Assessments as required, including completing permits for work and checking relevant registers i.e., Asbestos
* Liaise with stores department to ensure correct materials and equipment are available
* Respond to calls for urgent work outside normal working hours and carrying out planned work both inside and outside normal working hours, utilising university vehicles and equipment as necessary
* Carry out works as required and directed by the University, which may include working in confined spaces or at height, or in noisy or adverse weather conditions
* Working to provide the highest quality customer service within well-established Key Performance Indicators
Qualifications
* Safety boots & PPE
* A woodwork machinery qualification according to PUWER
* Substantial appropriate post qualification experience
* Experience in first and second fix joinery
* Experience of bench machineryExperience of reading construction drawings
* Full experience of working as a Joiner
* Ability to work along when required
* Participate in a 24/7 emergency “call out” service on a 52 week rota system, including fault finding, “making safe” and carrying out repairs as required
