ACCOUNTABILITIES : On shift basis, direct, monitor and control all staff in the performance of their allocated functions. Ensure that targets and standards are achieved, and procedures followed. During Shift Managers absence periods the team leader will be able to cover the shift manager’s roles to ensure that all operational and admin functions are completed. Complete all clerical functions/records required by the operation such as all receipts and despatches finalised during the shift, all temperatures recorded, all cleaning for their zone completed/stock checks/probe checks. Support and assist staff on their team and maintain a safe and efficient team by monitoring and identifying any health & safety issues that may arise. Monitor and control the use of MHE equipment to ensure the proper and necessary care and attention is applied when using them and to report all defects and damage to higher management, Ensure that their team complies and operates within the H&S and food hygiene guidelines as laid down within the company safety codes of practise. Identify training needs within the team and follow the rules set out in this document. HEALTH & SAFETY You as an employee are responsible for health and safety to protect you and the staff around you. Before commencing any work, you must assess the job/area or trailer you are working in and report any risks or hazards to your superior to re-assess. Support/Organise and assist staff on their working shift and maintain a safe and efficient team by monitoring and identifying any health & safety issues that may arise. Ensure Near Miss/Safety Observation checks and actual events are recorded and reported to a line manager (using the relevant forms). PERFORMANCE MEASURES : Completion of the key functions, intake, loading, targets achieved as specified by the company such as pallets handled per hour, vehicle turn around times. No stock on loading bays. Monitor the cleanliness of the zone at all times and enforce cleaning of the conveyors/POD and infeed area during quiet periods. Prepare and plan to achieve quick turnaround times on all vehicles as requested by customers. Productivity of all staff (through the mobile apps) within the warehouse operation is monitored and reported to shift managers. Mistakes are monitored, dealt with in a timely fashion and reported to shift managers. Completion of 9080 checklist and job log and finalisation of completed jobs Development of subordinates MHE checks and damage reporting Report the theft of any product to a manager. COMMON RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure communication with the ops controller is fluid and accurate To make sure that the traffic lights are in order to avoid accidents Do not allow staff to drive over the conveyor (if applicable) Ensure operatives check best before dates, quality of packaging and quantity on the pallet against that advised on the computer Ensure operatives check the product description and pack size is clear and that it is correct as stated on the computer Ensure operatives check and record batch number on customer stock (if applicable) and enter onto the computer Ensure operatives check and record weights on pallets or cases as specified by the customer To make sure that operatives are checking driver’s keys are on the hooks on the loading bay to avoid accidents MONITOR THE RECEIPT ENTRY SCREEN (241) TO MAKE SURE PALLETS ARE SITED BEFORE END OF EACH SHIFT. IF ANY ARE OUTSTANDING, THEY MUST BE FOUND OR SITED ACCORDINGLY Check that all charges are applied to customer’s accounts for all extra work involved in unloading such as inverting/wrapping etc Make sure operatives are checking all Company & Third-Party trailers are clean prior to loading or unloading. Always handover uncompleted work in detail to the next shift. Complete a shift handover report at the end of each shift Control of reach drivers, to ensure odd pallets are retrieved in a timely manner to complete loads. Advise the stock office of all discrepancies as they arise. Complete HR/TMS functions as required on a daily basis in the absence of a shift manager. Ensure that staff are hitting the capability using the mobile app and Ops Board – drive performance at your depot by monitoring and guiding staff If in doubt, ask a Shift Manager.
