and main responsibilities
Medical Oncology Duties:
1. Provide specialist care for cancer patients, including outpatient clinics, systemic anti-cancer therapy, and acute oncology input.
2. Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and contribute to clinical trials and research initiatives.
Governance and Performance:
3. Ensure compliance with NICE guidelines, clinical audit, incident reporting, and infection control.
4. Monitor clinical outcomes and contribute to performance improvement across efficiency, quality, and financial metrics.
Medical Staff Management:
5. Support training and development of junior doctors, participate in recruitment and appraisal processes, and ensure compliance with working time regulations.
Strategic Planning and Representation:
6. Contribute to business planning and represent the Trust at clinical networks and external meetings.
7. Engage with RM Partners and other regional and national bodies to shape cancer care pathways.
Teamworking and Leadership:
8. Foster a collaborative working environment, support departmental flexibility and innovation, and provide mentorship.
Additional Duties:
9. Support the chemotherapy suite and clinical trials unit, review prescriptions, and adapt to evolving departmental needs.

Essential criteria
10. Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
11. On the GMC Specialist Register for Medical Oncology or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview
Qualifications:

12. MRCP (or equivalent)
Desirable criteria
13. MD, PhD, or equivalent higher degree
Knowledge and Expertise

14. Broad-based training in Medical Oncology
15. Broad-based general professional training in general medicine
16. IT skills and computer literacy

17. Experience of teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates, and junior medical staff
Experience

18. NHS experience within the last 3 years
19. Evidence of ongoing interest and achievement in research
