The Role
As a Building Services Engineer (Electrical Biased), you’ll help keep vital electrical systems safe, compliant and running effectively across a secure and varied estate.
Day-to-day, you’ll carry out electrical maintenance, inspections and testing while supporting reactive tasks to ensure the site continues to operate smoothly.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Delivering electrical maintenance, inspection and testing in line with SFG20
2. Identifying and resolving electrical faults across the estate
3. Supporting planned preventative maintenance programmes
4. Completing reactive repairs and assisting with broader M&E tasks
5. Maintaining accurate compliance documentation and asset records
Essential experience of the Building Services Engineer (Electrical Biased):
6. Proven electrical maintenance and fault-finding experience within an M&E or industrial/commercial setting
7. Confidence interpreting electrical drawings and carrying out safe system-of-work practices
8. Experience working with systems such as HVAC, lighting, power, fire safety and security
9. Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team
10. Strong communication skills and confidence working with internal teams and external suppliers
Essential qualifications for the Building Services Engineer (Electrical Biased):
11. Level 3 Electrical Qualification such as C&G Level 3 or NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical Technology
12. BS 7671 (18th Edition, Amendment 2)
13. AM2 assessment
14. Inspection / Testing & Verification of Electrical Installations City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent NVQ, either the 2391-52 or 2391-53.

This role is 37 hours per week, based at Boscombe Down.

MOD Boscombe Down is a unique operational site featuring the longest military runway in the UK. Primarily focusing on providing testing, evaluation and support services for aviation and aerospace systems. Renowned for its extensive flight testing capabilities the site plays a vital role in the UK’s aviation defence contributing to the development, testing and airworthiness of military aircraft enhancing operational readiness and effectiveness.
