The Mews School supports young people aged 11-18 who have suffered sexual trauma, enabling them to realize their potential. Through personalized support, we help students achieve their goals, develop self-esteem, confidence, respect, and consideration for others, preparing them to become effective and contributing citizens within the community.
About the Role:
The Headteacher is seeking to appoint an aspiring subject Teacher to join this thriving specialist CSE School. Reporting to the Headteacher, you will deliver engaging and challenging lessons, contributing to the success of the department and the school. We seek an enthusiastic, flexible, and determined individual who shares our values and wishes to develop their career in this specialist area.
Who are we looking for?
While ideally, we prefer a qualified Teacher, we will consider applicants with experience as Instructors who have ambition and desire. Experience within a specialist provision is desirable but not essential; applications from those currently working in mainstream or college settings are welcome.
Subject specialism is essential, along with knowledge of current best practices in your chosen subject.
Training and development will be provided based on the school's needs, individual skills, and career aspirations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver well-structured lessons.
* Support learners pursuing GCSE English, Functional Skills English, and accredited Art qualifications (NCFE and AQA).
* Manage classes effectively, using approaches suitable to students’ needs to motivate them.
* Manage student anxiety to ensure a safe and enjoyable learning environment.
* Understand assessment requirements for your subject and curriculum areas, including statutory assessments.
* Experience teaching KS3 or KS4 in either a specialist or mainstream setting.
* Experience teaching GCSE/Functional English and vocational subjects.
* A dedicated work ethic to meet all students' needs.
* Passion for making learning effective and enjoyable.
* DBS clearance and satisfactory references.
* Ability to work independently.
