Location: Bradford - Hybrid Working (a mix of office and home working)
Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday Friday between the working window of 8:00am-6:00pm.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Affairs Advisor to join the Corporate Affairs Team within the wider Strategy & Regulation function at Yorkshire Water.

New environmental legislation, unprecedented levels of investment and changing expectations from customers means that this is an exciting time to discover opportunities within the water industry.
The Yorkshire Water Corporate Affairs team plays a key role in managing the companys external reputation with politicians, regulators, partners and other stakeholders. The team is also responsible for managing communications during crisis incidents and for influencing internal and external policy, in order to further the companys objectives.
Where you fit in
The Corporate Affairs Advisor roles is an intermediate/senior specialist and focuses on implementing the companys Corporate Affairs strategy, including managing relationships with key stakeholders. The role will also seek to develop and implement proactive political influencing campaigns and deliver communications during operational incidents.
Some of the key responsibilities include the following

Provide support to the Corporate Affairs Leadership Team and be the company expert in national public affairs for the industry.
Attends meetings with key external stakeholders, representing the company and building relationships
Provides briefings for Executive Team and senior managers on external matters to ensure the company is aware of changing political and policy environments
Builds and maintain strong relationships across the business and with external influencers to build trust and support the company strategic objective
Creates and delivers influencing campaigns on political topics that could impact the company
Works with the regional team on any activities with synergies in both the local and national interest
Attends Incident Management Team Meetings, provides out-of-hours standby cover as part of a rota and acts as a company spokesman when appropriate (subject to review).
What skills and qualifications you will need:
Significant experience as a public affairs professional within an agency or in-house environment or strong transferrable skills.
High-level political awareness with excellent knowledge of local and national government
Proficient writing skills; able to prepare briefings to a high-quality standard; working with subject matter experts to translate/rationalise complex information into a coherent narrative
Agile, able to respond to changing/dynamic insight and within tight deadlines.
A proven track record of delivering effective stakeholder engagement campaigns
A degree, preferably in politics, communications, economics, human geography or public relations
Experience of working with politicians and senior decision makers
Excellent interpersonal, influencing skills
Strong ability to organise and plan work, with excellent IT and project management skills
Be able to work independently and support and contribute to a team
Strong communications and engagement skills and consistent track record in achieving positive outcomes in this.
Experienced in delivering excellent external communications and engagement activities, right from planning through to execution.
Effective issues management experience and able to face into challenging situations
Understanding of the principles of good customer service/experience.
The role will involve travel to different sites across Yorkshire, therefore you will need a UK driving licence with no more than 6 points.
We embrace a flexible working model, where our hybrid setup typically requires an average of 1-2 days in the office per week. This could be slightly more when collaborative efforts, training or meeting deadlines demand it. For those who prefer to work on-site, our office is open Monday-Friday during working hours.
