We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Physiotherapy Assistant to work within our Respiratory Physiotherapy Teams. You will support physiotherapy staff across inpatient wards, assisting patients recovering from acute illness. The post-holder will manage a delegated caseload, considering current and potential function, supporting rehabilitation through exercise therapy, gait and balance rehab, and provision of aids where appropriate. The role encourages patients to regain independence and participate fully in daily activities. Previous experience in a Therapy Service is essential.
As a post holder, you will work with Physiotherapists and Support Workers, undertaking clinical and administrative tasks to support physiotherapy services. Patients are often very unwell, so experience working in a care setting is desirable. You will deal with patients post-surgery or recovering from acute illness, including those with drips, drains, and wounds, so resilience is important.
Previous experience as a therapy assistant is essential. Excellent communication skills are required to work effectively with a team and patients with complex communication needs.
This role offers opportunities to develop clinical and non-clinical skills through training and personal development. You will work on wards with in-patients alongside multidisciplinary colleagues, with access to training, supervision, and annual appraisals to support your professional growth.
As a Senior Physiotherapy Assistant, you will:
1. Work with support and minimal supervision on clinical tasks supporting physiotherapy delivery.
2. Manage a defined caseload within clinical areas or patient groups, undertaking delegated clinical tasks according to guidance and care pathways.
3. Support non-clinical tasks to aid physiotherapy services.
4. Undertake teaching and supervisory roles.
