Job Description
Position Summary: The role of the fitter is to carry out mandatory services and associated repairs.
Key Accountabilities/ responsibilities:
1. To have a good understanding of vehicle mechanical interfaces and repairs of vehicle components.
2. To be able to install / repair hydraulic systems.
3. To be able to fault find and carry out diagnostic investigation work.
4. Previous engine knowledge would be advantageous.
5. To overhaul of raft components.
6. To be able to understand schematic drawings.
7. To undertake training as and when required.
8. To work within a realistic timeframe.
9. To mentor trainees / apprentices when applicable.
10. To ensure that waste is disposed of in the correct manner.
11. To adhere to written or verbal instructions.
Background & Experience:
* The ability to work within a changing environment with deadlines and short lead times.
* To adhere always to the company’s Health, Safety & Environmental instructions and requirements.
* Take on any other reasonable responsibilities or tasks that are within the employee's skills and abilities
Qualifications/Education required:
* Recognised Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent NVQ Level 3. Previous experience in rail or automotive industry
Internal & External contacts and interfaces of the role:
* All internal functions/departments and businesses at LH and sister companies
