This is a fantastic opportunity for enthusiastic, and motivated activity leaders to join the team at Runways End Outdoor Centre.
Runway’s End is Hampshire County Councils first carbon neutral site and sits beside the Basingstoke Canal and boasts a wide range of adventure and environmental activities on land and water.
The Role:
We’re privileged to work with some amazing people here at Runways End Outdoor Centre. We provide residential and day visits to schools, uniformed groups, children and adults with additional needs and many other groups. As a Activity leader you will deliver adventurous and environmental activities assigned from the management team to groups from 1:12 and up to 1:36 after receiving training and following our pass out processes.
To undertake an initial comprehensive training period and induction to operational procedures, activities and systems. To instruct centre customers and to support the outdoor centre management in day-to-day operations whilst observing health and safety principles and practices.
What you’ll do:
* Training and Education - To take part in all training, induction and evaluation/assessment activities required to ultimately meet full operational effectiveness
* Teaching and Instruction - As determined by senior staff following training, induction and evaluation/assessment, to instruct a range of outdoor activities to a range of customers including school children, youth groups and adults following set structures and the supervision frameworks set down in the Instructor Handbook
* Maintenance and Development - To assist in maintaining equipment and resources as determined by senior staff to maintain operational effectiveness
* Risk Management - Required to understand and implement agreed Risk Management policies and procedures as laid down by the centre management within clear Operational Procedures and other Standing Orders to ensure that customers are safe and corporate liabilities are addressed
* Safeguarding - The post holder is responsible for ensuring that all Hampshire County Council child and adult protection policies are adhered to and concerns are raised in accordance with these policies
What we’re looking for:
You must have experience in at least one of the following areas:
* Youth group leader
* Uniform group leader/assistant (scouts, guides, cadets)
* Leisure centre assistant
* Sports coach (P.E, football, etc)
* Teaching assistant
* Relevant teaching/coaching experience
* Experience of outdoor activities or sports
* Ability to work in a team
* Good communication skills
