Your new role
My client is recruiting for a Conveyancing Legal Secretary/Assistant, joining a small and experienced support team. The role will be carrying out day-to-day conveyancing tasks including:
1. File opening, initial checks and setting up case files.
2. Searches and enquiries, ordering local authority searches, and helping prepare or chase replies to enquiries.
3. Drafting and preparing documents and other standard forms.
4. Liaising with parties,municating with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, other solicitors, and surveyors.
5. Managing timelines, tracking key dates such as exchange,pletion, mortgage offer expiry, and ensuring tasks arepleted on schedule.
6. Handling post exchange andpletion tasks.
7. Land Registry and HMRC submissions.
8. General admin — scanning, filing, updating case management systems, and maintaining accurate records.
What you'll need to succeed
9. Previous conveyancing experience is essential for this job.
10. Excellentmunication, clear written and verbalmunication.
11. Strong organisational ability, juggling multiple files, deadlines, and tasks.
12. Attention to detail.
13. Time management and strong IT skills including CMS, MS Office (Word, Outlook), and online portals (Land Registry etc.).
14. Customer service skills — clients are often stressed during property transactions; being patient, reassuring, and responsive makes a huge difference.
15. Problem-solving mindset, the ability to think ahead and resolve problems quickly.
16. Understanding of AML andpliance.
