Network Engineer (Fortinet) — 80% Project / 20% Service Desk Escalation

We’re hiring a hands‑on Network Engineer to lead and deliver network security projects (approx. 80% of the role) and act as the technical escalation point for the service desk (approx. 20%). You’ll design, deploy and operationally support Fortinet-based solutions across on‑prem and cloud environments, ensuring secure, resilient connectivity for the business.
Key responsibilities
* Lead network & security projects: design, implement, test and handover FortiGate firewall and Fortinet platform deployments.
* Configure and manage FortiGate (physical & virtual) firewall policies, high availability, routing and VPNs.
* Deploy and maintain FortiEMS / FortiClient endpoint security and integrate endpoint telemetry into security operations.
* Integrate and operate Fortinet Security Fabric components for centralized visibility and automated response.
* Provide L2/L3 escalation support for complex service desk incidents and change requests; produce RCA and remediation.
* Collaborate with network, cloud and security teams (including SOC/MSSP where applicable) during implementation and incident response.
* Produce design docs, runbooks, diagrams, and knowledge transfers for operations teams.
* Automate repetitive tasks and configuration management where possible.
Technical skills (required)
* Strong hands‑on experience with FortiGate firewalls (physical & virtual).
* Proven experience deploying and managing FortiEMS / FortiClient endpoint security.
* In‑depth understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching and DNS.
* Solid knowledge of network security concepts (firewalls, IDS/IPS, Zero Trust).
* Hands‑on experience with VPN technologies (IPsec, SSL).
* Experience with Fortinet Security Fabric integration.
Desirable skills
* Experience with FortiAnalyzer and FortiManager.
* Exposure to cloud security (Azure, AWS or GCP) and operating FortiGate in cloud environments.
* Knowledge of Zero Trust / SASE principles.
* Experience working with SOC teams or MSSP environments.
* Scripting/automation experience (PowerShell, Python, REST APIs).
