Main duties of the job
Clinical duties and responsibilities
Clinical assessment and management of the whole range of patients across acute medicine
Perform ward rounds with junior support
Manage high acuity patients in ECU
Independently manage patients with on site consultant supervision
Clinical duties and responsibilities: SDEC
Clinical assessment and management of the whole range of patients presenting to SDEC
Support more junior trainees/PAs/ACPs
Make independent discharge decisions and follow up arrangements
Manage the majority of SDEC patients independently, with consultant support for more complex cases

There are c 70-100 Acute Medical attendances per day from both Primary Care and the Emergency Department.

Person Specification
Education/Training/Qualifications
* Full GMC registration
* Advanced Life Support Certification
* Completed at least four years full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty; or equivalent experience and competencies
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD), including regular attendance on internal and external study programmes
* Acute Medicine SCE
Work Experience
* Experience and interest in teaching of staff, both undergraduate and postgraduate and from all disciplines
* Evidence of clinical audit (quality assessment/process improvement) experience
* Relevant publication in scientific journals, presentation at local/national conferences
* Being a medical registrar on call or equivalent and running an acute unselected medical take with consultant supervision.
* Making independent treatment and management decision including escalation and liaising with intensive care
* Experience and knowledge of common infectious diseases and management
