Job Description:
Various departments and locations across central Oxford and Headington. Salary: £25,331 per annum.
About the role
The role includes tasks related to setup and maintenance of IT equipment, Audio Visual support, and Data management. It offers an excellent opportunity for a hardworking, organized, and enthusiastic individual to gain broad IT Support skills within a dynamic team. Responsibilities may vary depending on the department or division:
1. Complete apprenticeship studies while gaining hands-on experience with technology, processes, and teams.
2. Provide first-line support for desktop/laptop/smartphone issues for staff and students.
3. Identify and support hardware and software issues.
4. Install and configure new devices, network connections, and access to network drives and printers.
5. Develop, implement, and maintain ICT systems.
6. Manage a caseload of service incidents and change requests, ensuring high standards.
7. Support departmental Audio-Visual systems, including assisting staff and students with recordings.
8. Work across multiple departments on a rotational basis.
9. Maintain a professional and helpful demeanor with customers, teams, and management.
10. Contribute to documentation, operating procedures, and web guidance.
11. Participate in projects and activities supporting the department and university's digital skills initiatives.
About the apprenticeship
As an Apprentice IT Support Officer, you will undertake a Level 3 Information Communications Technician Apprenticeship with Basingstoke ITEC, working within a department at the University of Oxford. You will spend at least 20% of your time training or studying online, completing the apprenticeship over 18-24 months with support from the university and partner organization.

You should be passionate about starting a career in IT Support, eager to learn, and committed to supporting others. No prior experience is required—just a proactive attitude and willingness to learn. You need to demonstrate passes at 9-4 or A*-C in GCSE Maths and English or equivalent. A short initial assessment will be part of the application process.
