Job Description
Base salary: £40,750 to c£50,950 depending on skills and experience. In addition, we offer flexible benefits fund of 20% which is paid on top base salary and is fully pensionable, as well as a range of competitive benefits - check them out in the Benefits section on our website.
The IT Business Partner role is the voice of IT in the business. The role facilitates engagement with business stakeholders to ensure the operational and developmental needs of the business are fed through the Delivery Integration & Management functions, to enable effective prioritisation decisions to be made and incorporated into directorate plans.
They are responsible for effective communication with business stakeholders, sharing progress throughout initiative delivery, discussing options to efficiently realise capability requirements and ensure realisation of benefits.
About the role
1. Actively manage relationships and effective communication with stakeholders in directorates with which they are primarily aligned, gathering holistic information to understand business needs and translate into detailed requirements, supported by Business Analysts as required.
2. Support the development of comprehensive stakeholder management strategies and plans.
3. Understand the HS2 IT strategy and Technology Roadmap, translate this into a directorate focussed view and communicate this effectively to business areas to enable informed discussion on their priorities.
4. Identify key metrics and mechanisms to measure benefits and forecast, plan and monitor the emergence and effective realisation of anticipated benefits from projects & programmes and product-based initiatives against what was predicted in the business case.
5. Facilitate open communication and discussion between stakeholders to assess and promote understanding of needs for future changes in services, products and systems and also attend appropriate business meetings and management forums to understand the varying needs of the business area and raise any potential impacts.
6. Build long-term, strategic relationships with senior stakeholders (internal and external). Facilitate the engagement of HS2 business stakeholders in support of the delivery of services and change projects.
7. Act as a point of contact to the business by developing, maintaining and working to stakeholder engagement strategies and plans. Provide informed feedback to assess and promote understanding.
8. Actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work, and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.
About You
Skills:
9. Relationship management. Ability to influence stakeholders and manage relationships effectively. Ability to create and develop long-term strategic relationships to facilitate and deliver business outcomes
10. Business analysis (IT operations). Ability to investigate problems and opportunities in existing processes and create recommendations for improvements
11. Service Management Framework knowledge. You know about the product life cycle and / or capability elements of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library)
12. Strategic thinking. Ability work within a strategic context and communicate how activities meet strategic goals
13. Technical understanding. Ability to show a thorough understanding of the technical concepts required for the role and can explain how these fit into the wider technical landscape.
14. User focus. Ability to identify, understand and champion the needs and the desires of the product end-user
15. Service focus. Ability to see the bigger picture by taking groups of services and investigating how to get the best of underlying services.
Knowledge:
16. Knowledge of digital transformation technology, trends and the opportunities they present
17. Knowledge of business partnering frameworks and tools
18. Knowledge of a variety of IT project delivery methods (E.g. But not limited to, Agile, waterfall)
19. Knowledge of the industry, business model, processes, and functional areas.
Type of Experience:
20. Experience in building and maintaining internal and external stakeholder relationships.
21. Experience of engaging stakeholders within a complex, fast-paced environment.
22. Experience of working across multiple priorities and dealing with ambiguity.
