Job Title: Behaviour Mentor (SEMH) Location: Dagenham, East London Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only Start Date: ASAP / Flexible Are you a compassionate, resilient, and confident professional looking to make a real difference? We're seeking a Behaviour Mentor to join a specialist SEMH school in Dagenham, supporting KS3-KS4 students who have experienced barriers to attending mainstream education. Many of the students have ASD or struggle with Emotional Based School Avoidance (EBSA). About the Role: Provide 1:1 and small-group support to help students regulate emotions and engage with learning. Build trusting, positive relationships to support students' emotional wellbeing. Implement behaviour plans, restorative approaches, and de-escalation strategies. Collaborate closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals. Support a small class of up to 10 students across subjects including English, Maths, Biology, Art, Business Studies, History, PE, plus regular rewards and enrichment activities. Promote a positive, structured, and safe school environment. About You: Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs, ASD, or trauma-informed challenges. Skilled in de-escalation and behaviour regulation techniques. Calm, patient, and able to stay professional under pressure. A strong team player with excellent communication skills and resilience.
